After graduating from high school in Montebello – a small suburb of Los Angeles – in 1998, Raul Caracoza attended Digital Business and Design College in El Monte, California, not only earning a certificate in Multimedia, but also affirming his love for Graphic Design. Caracoza took his talent and appreciation for the design field with him while working for such brands as the San Gabriel Valley Tribune and Los Angeles based radio stations – Power 106 and Movin’ 93.9 (Rick Dees).

It was his work in the entertainment industry that led Caracoza to working with Grammy Award winning acts such as Ozomatli and Play-N-Skills, as well as hip-hop pioneers – The Pharcyde and others, allowing him to blend his love of music with his graphics skills. His work in the entertainment industry continued, as he began photographing artists that include Jay-Z, Kanye West, Drake, Pitbull and LMFAO among others, further broadening his multimedia abilities.

Never losing sight of his original passion, Caracoza apprenticed under renowned master printer, José Alpuche of Self Help Graphics & Art as well as Richard Duardo of Modern Multiples to enhance his knowledge of fine art. Mentored by the late Rafael Mora – known best for his collaborations with Self Help Graphics – Caracoza explored his talents, drawing inspiration from his love of Los Angeles, music and Latino culture.

Caracoza’s aesthetic has become recognizable by fellow graphic artists and clients; and while recent work includes his signature computer-generated illustrations of Latino and musical icons, Caracoza is always keeping the client’s vision in perspective. “I am constantly expanding my knowledge of the ever-changing graphics field and understand the importance of communicating a client’s style and personality through my work.”

A lover of graphics, music, fine art and photography, Caracoza’s pieces have been published by multiple studios, featured in the McNay Art Museum exhibition: Estampas de la Raza, and used as the backdrop for numerous concerts and limited edition prints.
